Sports Business Leaders has officially secured the Crystal Tea Room in Philadelphia for the inaugural SBL Summit on July 20–21, 2027. Ticket sales will open soon.

The two-day conference will bring together 300 attendees for programming and networking focused on innovation in professional sports. Built for pro-team front office executives and the companies serving sports organizations, the summit connects decision-makers with ideas, technology, and solutions helping to advance the industry.

About half of the room will represent professional teams, leagues, and sports properties. The other half will represent innovation companies, investors, and other industry leaders.

An Iconic Philadelphia Venue

Located in the landmark Wanamaker Building, steps from City Hall, the Crystal Tea Room features a grand ballroom with crystal chandeliers, carved columns, and soaring ceilings. Operated by Finley Catering, the venue combines Philadelphia history with a central location in the heart of Center City. The first documented use of price tags occurred within the Wanamaker building.

The Crystal Tea Room provides the setting for two days of industry insights and business conversations, with opportunities to experience Philadelphia beyond the conference.

Innovation Through the Front Office Perspective

The summit’s programming centers on the opportunities and decisions facing professional sports organizations. Topics will include revenue growth, partnerships, fan experience, data & technology, and venue operations.

Attendees will hear directly from executives about how they identify business needs, evaluate new solutions, select partners, and measure results.

For team and league leaders, the summit provides time to exchange ideas with peers and learn how other organizations address similar challenges. For companies, it offers a clearer understanding of what sports organizations need and an opportunity to build relationships with decision-makers.

A Focused Room of 300

The summit’s size is intentional. A curated audience of 300 supports relevant introductions, repeat conversations, and meaningful time together across both days. The planned program includes keynotes, panels, activations, and dedicated networking.  Curated introductions and informal conversations will give attendees opportunities to connect beyond the sessions and explore shared business interests.

The emphasis is on practical value, from an idea an executive can bring back to their organization to a relationship that develops into a long-term partnership.

Built on Year-Round Relationships

The SBL Summit builds on the community developed through Sports Business Leaders’ events, membership, 200+ podcast episodes, and business development work.

SBL has hosted 80+ events across 13 cities (including London), and its partners have collectively generated more than $1M in new business. Those relationships inform the summit’s programming, the people in the room, and the introductions made throughout the event.

The combination of a professional sports focus, a curated audience, and an established year-round community gives the summit its purpose. It brings industry leaders together to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and do business.

Ticket information, speaker announcements, and additional programming details will be released soon.

See you there SBL!
